Defend against a common pest that feeds on your lawn during the early fall.
The adult crane fly, which looks like a large mosquito, is a difficult pest that feeds on lawns in the fall. When spring rolls around, most of the damage is done, and you may notice hundreds of grey-brown leatherjackets on a driveway or sidewalk after a warm May rainfall. Therefore, much like grubs, this pest is best controlled in fall, when small and vulnerable to treatment.
For this treatment, we apply parasitic nematodes, which are microscopic worms that move through the soil and seek out and destroy crane fly larvae within your lawn. This treatment is applied during the wetter season, and clients must ensure the lawn remains moist and watered immediately after the service to allow the nematodes to penetrate the soil and reach the young crane flies (leatherjackets).
